Cleaning and conditioning window screens is important for several reasons, as it helps maintain the functionality of the screens and ensures they continue to serve their purpose effectively. Here are the key reasons why it’s important to clean and condition window screens:

  1. Improved Airflow: Window screens allow fresh air to circulate into your home while keeping insects and debris out. Over time, dust, pollen, and other particles can accumulate on the screens, reducing their effectiveness in allowing air to flow freely. Regular cleaning ensures unobstructed airflow, helping to keep your indoor environment well-ventilated and comfortable.
  1. Enhanced Visibility: Clean screens provide a clear view through your windows, allowing you to enjoy the scenery outside without any hindrance. Dirt and grime on the screens can obstruct your view and reduce the amount of natural light that enters your home.
  1. Pest Prevention: Window screens act as a barrier against insects and pests, helping to keep them outside where they belong. A well-maintained and clean screen is more effective in preventing bugs from entering your home.
  1. Longer Screen Lifespan: Dust and debris on window screens can contribute to wear and tear over time. Regular cleaning and maintenance can extend the lifespan of your window screens, saving you money on replacements.
  1. Healthier Indoor Environment: Dirty window screens can harbor allergens such as pollen and mold spores. When air passes through these screens, these allergens can be released into your home, potentially causing allergies and respiratory issues. Cleaning the screens reduces allergen buildup, promoting a healthier indoor environment.
  1. Aesthetics: Clean and well-maintained window screens contribute to the overall appearance of your home. They complement the clean windows and enhance the visual appeal of your house’s interior and exterior.
  1. Functionality: When window screens are clogged with dirt and debris, they may become difficult to open, close, or remove for cleaning. Keeping them clean and conditioned ensures they remain functional and easy to use.
  1. Cost Savings: Regularly cleaning and maintaining your window screens can prevent the need for frequent replacements, saving you money in the long run.
  1. UV Protection: Window screens can offer some protection against harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun. However, their ability to block UV rays diminishes when dirty and clogged. Clean screens can help reduce UV exposure inside your home, protecting your furniture and flooring from fading.
  1. Peace of Mind: Knowing that your window screens are clean and in good condition provides peace of mind. You can enjoy the benefits of natural ventilation and views without worrying about pests, allergens, or compromised functionality.

In conclusion, cleaning and conditioning window screens is essential to maintain their effectiveness, ensure a healthier indoor environment, and prolong their lifespan. Regular window screens maintenance contributes to your home’s overall comfort, aesthetics, and functionality.

What is Conditioning?

Our conditioning agent really does the magic when applied to your cleaned screens. It shines and protects leather, vinyl, rubber, chrome, stainless steel, wood, and more. It protects against cracks, hardening, rotting, or dulling from sun, ozone, and smog. Furthermore, it creates an elegant, smooth, static-free wet-look surface that resists water, dust, dirt, and other soils. Best of all, it acts as a UV inhibitor that helps protect your screens from deterioration from the Arizona sun’s UV rays. Truly a small investment in comparison to costly screen replacement down the road.

How to Count Panes

Please refer to this graphic for instructions on how to count your window panes. A pane of glass is a piece of glass surrounded by a frame on all sides. Please count each pane separately – most windows have 1, 2, or 3 panes, but some specialty windows like garden windows can have more.

How to Count Sun Screens

Here are a few image examples to help you count your sun screens.

Standard vs. French Panes

French panes have an EXTERNAL decorative cross grid pattern. Instead of having one large window pane you have multiple small window panes. Standard windows are just one blank sheet of glass but sometimes may have a decorative cross-grid pattern sandwiched in between two layers of glass. If you cannot feel the cross-grid pattern, chances are it’s a standard pane! Still not sure? Give us a call!
